Group Data Manager (m/f/d)

The SGB-SMIT Group is a specialized transformer manufacturer with roots in Europe and locations in Europe, Asia and the United States. As an essential link in the electricity chain – between generation, transmission and distribution – the transformers of the SGB-SMIT Group ensure stable, efficient and secure energy flows. The product portfolio includes power transformers, distribution transformers, cast-resin transformers and special solutions for data centers, industry and e-mobility, among others. How you will create an impact 📈:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a company-wide data management strategy aligned with business goals.

  • Define data governance frameworks, roles, responsibilities, and operating models.

  • Advocate for data-driven culture and best practices across the organization.

Data Governance & Stewardship

  • Establish data ownership and stewardship across the group of companies.

  • Define and enforce data standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, metadata catalogs, and data lineage documentation.

Data Quality & Integrity

  • Design and implement processes for data quality assurance and continuous improvement.

  • Establish data quality metrics, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms.

  • Lead initiatives to clean, standardize, and enrich critical data sets.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and internal policies.

  • Manage risks related to data privacy, security, and ethical use of data.

Collaboration & Change Management

  • Collaborate with IT, analytics, operations, legal, and business units to implement data initiatives.

  • Drive change management, including stakeholder engagement, communication, and training.

  • Serve as a bridge between technical teams and business users to align data needs and solutions.

Technology & Tooling

  • Evaluate and recommend data management tools, platforms, and technologies.

  • Support the implementation of Master Data Management (MDM), Data Catalogs, and Data Quality tools.

What are we looking for 🔎:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 5–10 years of experience in data management, governance, or related roles.

  • Proven experience in establishing and scaling enterprise data management functions

  • Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).

  • Familiarity with data quality tools, data catalogs, and metadata management platforms.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills
