LCA Specialist (m/f/d)

The SGB-SMIT Group is a specialized transformer manufacturer with roots in Europe and locations in Europe, Asia and the United States. How you will create an impact 📈:

  • Execute and analyze product life cycle assessments: Evaluate environmental impacts throughout product life cycles.

  • Take the lead in rolling out EDP Type II certifications to all locations.

  • Develop SGB-SMIT’s strategy for ensuring environmental product compliance with both existing and emerging global regulations, such as RoHS, Conflict Minerals, TSCA, REACH, POPs, Proposition 65, the Battery Directive, and others.

  • Analyze and provide guidance on the business implications of evolving environmental compliance regulations.

  • Participate in sustainable projects: Support and lead projects to reduce environmental footprints.

  • Be actively involved in driving our decarbonization strategy: Collaborate with product portfolio and sourcing teams on opportunities for growth through sustainable products.

  • Support commercial and sales teams in engaging customers on our sustainability strategy and offerings.

  • Use sustainable design knowledge to serve as an internal expert and develop tools for R&D, Sourcing, Packaging teams, and suppliers.

  • Create communications materials and tools to support Sourcing, Marketing, and Commercial teams in developing and promoting environmentally sustainable products and services.

  • Support sustainability strategy development and execution by understanding strategic customers’ needs and market trends.

What are we looking for 🔎:

  • Degree or equivalent education in environmental science, sustainability management, engineering, or related field.

  • Relevant experience in applying ecodesign and life cycle thinking within a business setting, including recommendations and action plans.

  • Experience with life cycle assessments (e.g., through internships, study projects, or professional experience).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with databases or LCA software (e.g., Shpera /GaBi, OpenLCA, SimaPro) preferred.

  • Analytical skills and ability to conduct process analysis.

  • Independent and structured working style with high reliability.

  • Interest in sustainability and innovation to contribute new ideas.

  • Experience working in global teams preferred.

  • Ability to collaborate across various cultures as well as work independently.

  • Proficiency English, both written and spoken. Any other language is an advantage, German would be preferred.
